Her Majesty Queen Barbara Martha and Consort Gisem make their grand entrance to the Grand Opening Ceremonies
The historic District of Jaro will soon celebrate its annual fiesta with an Agri-Industrial and Charity Fair. The festive celebration is in honor of its patron, Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria. One of the highlights is the Coronation of the Fiesta Queen, a most anticipated dressed up event.
Always coming from the district’s prominent families, the Queen exemplifies beauty, refinement and grace. And this year’s Queen is no exception.
She is BARBARA MARTHA OBERAS ROSAL, the only daughter of Hon. ALEXIS ESPINA ROSAL, Punong Barangay of Taytay Zone II, Jaro and his wife MARIEDALE BAÑAS. She is currently a sophomore Bachelor of Science in Business Administration student at the University of San Agustin.
Beauty runs in the family. Her grandmothers THELMA BAÑAS-BADILLA, ALSINA BAÑAS-ALBA and MANAJAMA BAÑAS-GAMBOA were all Queens of Lapaz. Championing an advocacy of helping the abused kids and senior citizens, she is a great granddaughter of DOMINADOR JALANDONI JOVER, a former Mayor of Iloilo City.
Her consort is GISEM ELAURIA, the son of Kagawad GINA ELAURIA of Brgy. Taytay, Jaro and SEM SABINO. He is the grandson of ROBLEDO and GENOVEVA ELAURIA.
A basketball varsity player, he is a senior at Central Philippine University High School Department. After graduation, he plans to take up Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering and to become a successful seafarer someday.
After the parade through the main streets of the district, the Queen of Jaro, her Consort and their court were presented to the press and wellwishers during the Grand Opening Ceremony at the Jaro Plaza Auditorium.
