Let’s fiesta!

One of the most anticipated invitations in town, the annual Dinagyang Thanksgiving dinner party of woman of style NORMA PADILLA-ROSALES was a festive celebration. Charming sisters BABY, PANGGING and PANE, and their brother BOBBY ROSALES, with help from creative BONI GAVERZA, transformed the driveway and garden of the family’s art deco Strawberry House into a party place with Filipiniana décor!

The barrio fiesta themed party was well-attended by an eclectic mix of friends from society, business, profession, government service and clergy!

Dateline Boracay

One of the highlights of my sister MARY SPICAK and her daughter DIANDRA’s vacation in the Philippines is a trip to Boracay with yours truly! Naturellement, our home away from home on the paradise island was the popular la Carmela de Boracay Resort Hotel. Its hotshot owner BOY SO and his charming team – MARILOVE, MILKIE, BOYET, MARLON and RUFU – gave us a VIP treatment!

Après dropping our baggage in our rooms, we went beaching and shopping. Amid the cacophony of Asian and European languages, we enjoyed the sights, sun, sand, savor and sounds of Boracay!
We watched the sunset and lounged in the bars with our favorite cocktails as gorgeous babes and hunky dudes competed in attention and space everywhere!

For our meals, we went Italian, Arabic, Mexican, Spanish and Mongolian. Well, why not? After all Boracay is a melting pot of different nationalities and various cuisines!
Needless to say, we had a wonderful vacation!

Fiesta Queen

The historic District of Jaro will soon celebrate its annual fiesta with an Agri-Industrial and Charity Fair. The festive celebration is in honor of its patron, Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria. One of the highlights is the Coronation of the Fiesta Queen, a most anticipated dressed up event.
Always coming from the district’s prominent families, the Queen exemplifies beauty, refinement and grace. And this year’s Queen is no exception.
She is BARBARA MARTHA OBERAS ROSAL, the only daughter of Hon. ALEXIS ESPINA ROSAL, Punong Barangay of Taytay Zone II, Jaro and his wife MARIEDALE BAÑAS. She is currently a sophomore Bachelor of Science in Business Administration student at the University of San Agustin.
Beauty runs in the family. Her grandmothers THELMA BAÑAS-BADILLA, ALSINA BAÑAS-ALBA and MANAJAMA BAÑAS-GAMBOA were all Queens of Lapaz. Championing an advocacy of helping the abused kids and senior citizens, she is a great granddaughter of DOMINADOR JALANDONI JOVER, a former Mayor of Iloilo City.
Her consort is GISEM ELAURIA, the son of Kagawad GINA ELAURIA of Brgy. Taytay, Jaro and SEM SABINO. He is the grandson of ROBLEDO and GENOVEVA ELAURIA.
A basketball varsity player, he is a senior at Central Philippine University High School Department. After graduation, he plans to take up Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering and to become a successful seafarer someday.
After the parade through the main streets of the district, the Queen of Jaro, her Consort and their court were presented to the press and wellwishers during the Grand Opening Ceremony at the Jaro Plaza Auditorium. It was also attended by Rep. JERRY P. TREÑAS of the Lone District of Iloilo City and Vice Mayor JOE ESPINOSA III of Iloilo City. (Photos by Joselito Villasis)

Silver couple

What do you do when you mark your twenty-five years of love, happiness and togetherness? Celebrate, of course. And well-loved couple, Drs. LOUIE and ARLENE TIRADOR, did just that!
Aprés the renewal of vows during the religious ceremonies at Breakthrough Pavillion, a fun reception followed at the same venue. It was well attended by nearest and dearest — family members, relatives, colleagues and friends – who all enjoyed the sumptuous buffet dinner prepared by popular caterer DING MONTELIBANO.
The highlight of the night was a well-planned program, which included dance numbers from the silver couple and their children, and speeches and toasts from friends. (Photos by Ray Tabafunda)

Celebrating its first year

Panay Tours Specialist, Inc. (PTSI), the only local tour wholesaler company in Panay, celebrated its first anniversary with an intimate thanksgiving dinner party at Café Panay.
Creative AYAN JORDA expertly prepared an array of sumptuous and innovative Ilonggo dishes (with organic ingredients) that drew oohs and aahs from the guests, while PTSI owners, tres charmante MAE TAMAYO-PANES and muy simpatica DONNA RATILLA received the well-wishers who included bloggers, columnists, professionals and businessmen.
PTSI is the forefront in promoting the sights, savor and sounds by designing and operating tour packages to build a niche in tourism not only in Panay but in Western Visayas, as well. As what the late travel and tour guru SUSAN CALO-MEDINA always said, “Huway maging dayuhan sa sariling bayan!”

Forty years and counting

In this era of separations and divorces, it is heartening to know that some unions last long! One of such marriages is the bond of couple Capt. LEOPOLDO Jr. and CONNIE LANCETA (née DIMALIWAT), who marked their 40 years of togetherness, happiness and love!
The couple, their children and grandchildren celebrated it with church rites and a dinner party. After the renewal of vows at the parish of Our lady of Fatima of Alta Tierra Village in Jaro, a festive reception followed at the Sunset Terrace of Hotel del Rio.

Kiths and kins from across the country came to see and be seen. They all enjoyed on good food, fine wine, each other’s company, and fun entertainment from the couple’s grandchildren. The short and sweet program was also highlighted by speeches, wishes, roasting and the production number of couple’s youngest ERRIZ ERIKHA!
