Endless Summer (Part 2)

When not taking an early morning walk, we took a dip in the famed waters and sunbathe on the white sand beach!  It was followed by hearty breakfast on the poolside deck of La Carmela de Boracay Resort Hotel.

Shopping at the D’Mall for high-end goods and at D’Talipapa for more affordable items, and people-watching at the beachfront cafés were just a few exciting activities that occupied our day.

The employees and family members had fun with series of team building games that set the mood for things to come later in the day.

The fabulous Boracay sunset never ceases to amaze everyone. “Kodakan” freeze-framed it for posterity!

As if not enough, tres charmant BOY SO, the owner of La Carmela de Boracay Resort Hotel, hosted a sumptuous international and Mongolian dinner for vivacious NOEL MIRASOL, fun-to-be-with NONOY BATAGA and yours truly much to our surprise and delight.

Indeed, it was an enjoyable weekend with friends!


Endless Summer (Part 1)

Taking advantage of the long Freedom Weekend, the management and staff of Armed Forces and Police Savings and Loans Association, Inc. (AFPSLAI) Iloilo, Bacolod and Antique offices went to Boracay for fun in the sun! Joining them were family members, close friends and yours truly!

Their home away from home on the paradise island was the popular La Carmela de Boracay Resort Hotel. Rightfully so, they were all given VIP treatment.

After a short rest from the long trip, everyone, in groups, explored and enjoyed the sights and savor of Boracay. The afternoon was spent taking pleasure in water sports, the early evening lounging on bars with our favorite beveragic delights, and dinner at specialty restaurants.

We capped the pulsating island night life at Club Summer Place. Juice Bar and Epic! (To be continued)


All in the family

At the family’s Strewberry Mansion, woman of style and top hostess NORMA PADILLA-ROSALES hosted an intimate dinner and drink party at for her visiting FERRER nephews – New York-based DAVE, chief engineer ALFREDO and Rep. JEFFREY of the 4th Dsitrict of Negros Occidental.

The get-together was made even more meaning because the family was also celebrating Rep. JEFFREY and nephew ED ALFRED’s birthday!

The fun started with a thanksgiving mass officiated by Fr. DENNIS BATACANDOLO and followed by a sumptuous dinner buffet.

Also there were DAVE’s wife DEANNA HORMILLOSA-FERRER who came with her brother GAVIN HORMILLOSA of New York’s Finest; and ALFREDO’s better half SANDRA who brought along their sons JEFF ALFRED, ED ALFRED, DAVE AFRED and ROSS ALFRED.

The ROSALES sisters were also in hand to put everyone in high spirits. While PANGGING kept our glass filled with beveragic delights, PANE made sure the buffet table was steadily supplied with good food and BABY set the mood with ambient music.

Indeed, it was a fun night. Yours truly was glad to be invited!

Aeolus in Metro-Iloilo

CEO of Aelous Philippines GERARD TAN and dealers WILSON NOCOM of Manila, ARCHER LIM of Surigao and ROMAN LO of Dumaguete jetted in from Cosmo-Manille for the mid-morning opening and blessing of Iloilo Platinum Sales Company at San Marcos in Molo. IPSC is the exclusive dealer of Aelous Tires in town!

Rightfully so, President/CEO EARLWYNE TAN, his wife MARIA FE TAN, their son, IPSC Manager BARNSLEY TAN and daughter KRISHNAE PRINCESS TAN welcomed them and special guest ROSALIE SARABIA-TREÑAS, wife of Rep. JERRY P. TREÑAS of the Lone District of Iloilo City.

The inaugural event opened with a Lion Dance by Sun Yat Sen High School students for good luck, and prayers by Fr. BOY CELIZ of the Sta. Ana Parish Church for blessings from God Almighty. It was followed by a sumptuous lunch courtesy of Iloilo Mansion House!

Designed by architect NILO MORALIDAD, the four-storey IPSC Building houses the display center of Aelous Tires and offers vulcanizing, nitrogen filling, wheel alignment and balancing, tire mounting and cleaning, and change oil. “Though Aelous is our flagship brand, we also carry other brands,” enthused EARLWYNE TAN in his welcome remarks.

In attendance were a diverse mix and match of movers, shakers and achievers in business, profession and media.


A night under the stars with Rica O. Peña (Part 2)

After the traditional 18 candles, 18 treasures and 18 roses, the piece de resistance of the program, emceed by JOSHUA MISAJON, was the cotillion de juvenes! SARAH P. gave a hearty welcome while JUDGEE P. offered an emotional speech!

The guests came to dance, dine, dazzle and have fun, and how! Well, why not? The celebrator has come of age! The gents and ladies of style swept the dance floor to the tunes of First Edition Band.

In the end, everyone enjoyed one of the best 18th parties ever! Wishing you the best of everything, my dear KOKAY!


A night under the stars with Rica O. Peña (Part 1)



The crème de la crème of Iloilo, Bacolod and Manila society graced the debut celebration of young miss RICA MARIE ISABEL O. PEÑA in a true LOPEZ-PEÑA fashion.

Old friends wished and greeted the celebrator over sips and spills of high-end beveragic delights, and bites of sumptuous dinner buffet by WILSON ESPARANCILLA and JAN PAOLO LEE of Alejandro’s Catering Services at the sprawling PEÑA residence in Jaro.

There was a French-style boudoir to receive the guests. Over the pool, a bridge was set up and at the end of the garden a grand stage was built. Tables with crystal décor and floral arrangement dotted the lawn.

Sidlangan Dance Theater Company and Kinaadman Chorale of John B. Lacson Maritime Foundation University provided the entertainment during cocktails and dinner.

Led by her parents, sugar baron JUDGEE LOPEZ PEÑA and woman of style SARAH OPOLENCIA-PEÑA, and sisters, Atty. RITA and Dr. RISA, the star of the night RICA made her grand entrance in a fabulous KRISTEL YULO gown amid cheers, applause and fireworks! KRISTEL also did the gowns of SARAH, Atty. RITA and Dr. RISA. (To be continued)

Au’s celebration

Muy simpatica AU PALOMAR celebrated her birthday with the help of daughter KRISTINE and her husband ROMAEL QUERUBIN. The party was held at the couple’s sleek home in Chicago, Illinois, USA!

At the spacious living room, guests who included family members and close friends, delighted on specially prepared appetizers, entrées and desserts.

Thanks to the cool and breezy atmosphere, much of the evening was outdoors, sipping beveragic delights!

To Tita AU, as we fondly call her, cheers, best wishes and God bless! May you have more birthdays to celebrate!

Together forever (Part 2)

The religious rites were followed by the highly anticipated reception at the Royal Garden Hall. The setting of the exquisite celebration was a sight to behold, courtesy of event stylist GIGI SY of Cebu Country Classic.

Upon entering guest were dazzled by the floral arrangements, by florist LYNNIE DENILA from the Malagos Farm in Davao, which lavishly decorated the tables. They also did the church decorations.

The guests filled themselves with cocktail drinks and hors, d’eourves, and outstanding entrées, delectable desserts and more beveragic delights by caterer to the rich and famous DING MONTELIBANO. The dance mood music was provided by Kreonz.

The speeches of Best Man PHILIPP A. CHUA and Groomsman Atty. ALFONSO MIGUEL M. SIASON set the mood for the night’s partying. In their boarding school accented English, they “roasted” and toasted the newlyweds.

Together forever (Part 1)


So many heartfelt memories were created during one special day when dashing JOHN U. ROLIDA and lovely CAROLINE “Chinky” LAYSON BONDOC were joyfully married at the historic St. Anne’s Parish Church in Molo! The mood was distinctly romantic and could be felt by everyone in attendance.

Notwithstanding the balmy weather, who’s who in business, society, politics and profession were all present and accounted for.

The groom, who hails from Cagayan de Oro and studied here in Metro-Iloilo, is the son of JULIAN and BRENDA ROLIDA while the bride, who grew up in Metro-Iloilo, is the daughter of ROMEO and MARIA ASUNCION BONDOC (née LAYSON). They met in Cebu!

The bride CHINKY wore a sleeveless beaded and embroidered wedding gown with bouffant skirt and sweeping train by fashion designer and family friend JOSE ALBERTO K. SANCHEZ who also created the gowns of the female members of the entourage. The groom JOHN donned a PHILIP RODRIGUEZ  tuxedo.
